Prague Food Festival is the biggest event of the year for foodies in Czech Republic. It lasts three days, from noon till evening. It happens in an open-air place in the spacious area of Vysehrad.
Prague Food Festival – information
- Where: Vyšehrad
- What: 22 restaurants with festival menu, 27 chefs, 24 cooking shows
- Price: 500CZK on the spot (200 is entrance fee, 300 is for 10 Grands)
- Tickets: You can buy on the spot or book online in advance
Restaurants are serving their gourmet cuisine in tasting portions. Each restaurant stall offers three or more dishes, which can be a starter, soup, main dish or dessert. You can buy just one of them or the whole menu (for one price). Plates are small, so you can (and you should) try more restaurants and more food. If you are usually hungry, you can have about ten plates and taste even more when you share with your mate.
Hoping for beautiful weather, walking through the festival area, looking around stalls with food and, occasionally, some queues, eating and enjoying some cooking shows can take you for about 2-4 hours.
Grands and prices
The festival has its own currency – Grands. This means that you cannot pay by cash or card, just Grands. You get 10 Grands (in value of 300CZK) with your ticket and can buy more at the entrance or, later, at a special stall in the area.
Prices differ from restaurant to restaurant and dish to dish, but let‘s say the average price is 2-3 Grands for a starter or dessert, 5-7 Grands for a main meat dish and 10-12 Grands for the whole menu (starter + main dish + dessert).
Restaurants
There will be restaurants from Maurer’s Selection Grand Restaurants, which means high quality restaurants. There will be restaurants presented from the whole Czech Republic, but most of them are situated in Prague (so, you can visit them again later, if you would like).
Most of the restaurants here are famous and some of them have been awarded Michelin Bib Gourmand or The Michelin Plate.
Which restaurants you can find here? V Zátiší, Le Grill, Kobe Steak Grill, Art Noveau, Chateau Mcely, Bellevue, Aureole Fusion Restaurant and more. The whole list of restaurants and their menus can be found on the Prague Food Festival website.
