Top-Rated Restaurants in Prague: Every Michelin and Gault&Millau Pick, Compared

Written by: Petra · Updated: August 23, 2026

Prague finally has its own MICHELIN Guide Czechia. It landed in December 2025, the first national guide the country ever got. Together with Gault&Millau Czech Republic 2026, that gives us two independent panels handing out ratings all over the city. This is a comparison of both, not a personal pick. I haven’t ranked anything myself and I’m not telling you where I eat. I’m just laying out who got what, and what those ratings actually mean.

In total, this covers 48 of the top-rated restaurants in Prague — everything with a Michelin star, Bib Gourmand or Selected mention, plus every place Gault&Millau gave three or four toques for 2026. The two guides overlap on 40 of them. And they disagree more often than you’d think. A place can be a Bib Gourmand at Michelin and a three-toque restaurant at Gault&Millau. So it’s worth seeing where they line up and where they don’t.

The essentials:

  • Prague has five one-star restaurants: Levitate, Field, La Degustation Bohême Bourgeoise, Casa De Carli and Štangl. No two-star place in the city.
  • Only two restaurants got four toques from Gault&Millau: La Degustation and Levitate.
  • A star-level tasting menu starts around 2,200 CZK (about 90 EUR) at Štangl and climbs to 3,500 CZK (about 140 EUR) at La Degustation.
  • The two guides disagree a lot. Some places are a Michelin Bib Gourmand but a three-toque restaurant at Gault&Millau, so check both before you book.
  • The seven Bib Gourmand spots give you a serious kitchen for the price of a normal dinner.
  • 16 of the awarded places serve breakfast, so a top-rated kitchen can also be your morning stop.

The Michelin stars, and what dinner costs

All five one-star kitchens sit in the top price bracket, but the tasting menus aren’t priced the same. Štangl is the gentlest entry at 2,200 CZK (about 90 EUR), while La Degustation goes to 3,500 CZK (about 140 EUR) for six courses. Two of them, La Degustation and Levitate, are also the only Prague restaurants Gault&Millau gave four toques. If you’d rather order plate by plate, Field, Štangl and Casa De Carli all do à la carte.

Where the two guides disagree

The clearest split is where a Michelin verdict and a Gault&Millau one don’t line up. Na Kopci in Smíchov is a Bib Gourmand at Michelin but gets just one toque from Gault&Millau. Dejvická 34 goes the other way, a Bib Gourmand that Gault&Millau rates at three toques and 15.5. And a whole group in Malá Strana, including Terasa U Zlaté studně, sits at three toques but isn’t in the Michelin guide at all. Check both before you book.

Bib Gourmand: a star-level kitchen for the price of a normal dinner

The seven Bib Gourmand spots are Michelin’s way of flagging good food that won’t wreck your budget. All but one sit in the €€ band. Gault&Millau doesn’t always agree, though. Dejvická 34 in Bubeneč gets three toques and a 15.5 from them, the top mark in this group. Na Kopci in Smíchov, on the other hand, drops to a single toque. So the two panels can rate the same place very differently.

Awarded places where you can start the day

What’s nice here is that 16 of these top-rated kitchens also do breakfast or brunch. So an awarded place can be your morning stop, not just a dinner splurge. The only Michelin star in the group is Štangl in Karlín, which serves breakfast. If you want the highest Gault&Millau marks, look at the cluster in Malá Strana, where several spots sit at three toques.

Neighbourhood by neighbourhood

Most of the awarded kitchens sit in Old Town and New Town, which won’t surprise anyone. But the star and Bib Gourmand honours are spread wider than that. Karlín, Bubeneč, Smíchov and Dejvice each hold their own award, so you don’t need to stay in the centre to eat well. And Malá Strana is the odd one out: three high Gault&Millau spots, but only one place in the Michelin guide.

What kind of cooking gets awarded in Prague

No surprise which cuisine dominates. Czech and modern Czech makes up 31 of the awarded places, with 3 Michelin stars and 6 of the 7 Bib Gourmands. Italian and Mediterranean comes next with 7 spots and its own star. Asian food is thinner on the ground but still holds a star. So the guides reward Czech kitchens most, but the top honours aren’t Czech-only.

Michelin Selected: the rest of the list

Below the stars and Bib Gourmands sits Michelin’s Selected list, kitchens the inspectors rate but don’t award. Most of them cluster in Old Town and New Town, same as the top honours. But Gault&Millau tracks them too, and often more warmly: several Selected places pick up two or three toques, like 420 Restaurant, Taro and Salabka. So a spot with no Michelin symbol can still be a serious kitchen.

Petra Prague local & food guide

Born and raised in Prague, and honestly, I never got tired of it. Food is what I love most — I've eaten my way through dozens of countries, and it only made me appreciate what this city does so well. The restaurants, the café scene, the neighborhoods, the hidden courtyards — I've spent my whole life here with my eyes open. Everything on this site is somewhere I chose with my own money and would choose again. That's the whole filter.
